◆VERSTA Special Advisor Joao Carlos Saad received the “Order of the Rising Sun” from Japan! New！
Recently, VERSTA Brazil Special Advisor Joao Carlos Saad (President of TV-BAND, Brazil) was awarded the “Order of the Rising Sun” by the Japanese government for the medal in the spring of the third year of Reiwa. It is a great honor and a heartfelt congratulations to VERSTA to work with Joao Carlos Saad.
We pray for Joao Carlos Saad’s continued success and health.

◆The Mitsui & Co. Environment Fund has decided to subsidize VERSTA for 3
years from 2019!!
On April 1, 2020, The Mitsui & Co. Environment Fund informed us that the FY2019 Activity Grant was decided to be granted to VERSTA support activities.
The fund aims to realize a sustainable society in which the economy and the environment are in harmony by supporting various “activities” and “research” that contribute to the solution of global environmental problems.
In FY2019 activity support by the fund, 1.5 million yen will be paid as seed and seedling costs for 2 ha of VERSTA Jussara palm secondary forest cultivation model field and fertilizer fee and AF model field experience training grant. The activity grant will be provided for three years until 2021.
This has enabled VERSTA to continue to support the Jussara palm AF model field and expand the model field in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil.
◆The Aeon Environment Foundation has decided to subsidize VERSTA in 2020!
On January 29, 2020, the Aeon Environment Foundation informed us that the 29th AEON Environmental Activities Grant was decided to be granted for VERSTA support activities.
The foundation subsidizes organizations working for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in developing countries and Japan.
The activity subsidy will be paid to VERSTA 910,000 yen for seeding costs of 4 ha of Jussara palm AF model field and fertilizer cost of 14 ha of the model field.
This has enabled VERSTA to continue to support the Jussara palm AF model field and expand the model field in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil.
◆[Special Information] Brazilian key person is appointed as VERSTA Special Advisor!
On September 3, 2019, Mr. Roberto Rodrigues, former Minister of Agriculture
and Pasture Supply of Brazil, and Joao Carlos Saad, President of TV-BAND,
took office as Special Advisors for VERSTA.

In Sao Paulo State Seta Barras City, VERSTA’s Jussara palm agroforestry Promotion Project VERSTA is starting from 2012 will be the fifth year.
A project meeting to be held in August 28 (Friday) this year will be published the following Power Point documents.

◆”VERSTA Jussara palm AF support project” has nominated as 2016 Japan Fund for Global Environment grant projects！
VERSTA’s “Jussara palm Agroforestry Support Project” deployed in Sete Barras city, Sao Paulo states, Brazil, has nominated as 2016 Japan Fund for Global Environment grant third year projects.
As a result, VERSTA’s Jussara palm AF Activities by Japan Fund for Global Environment grant amount of the total four years from introductory grant is now 7.6 million yen.

VERSTA’s “Jussara palm AF Support Project” in Rio Preto village, Sete Barras city, Sao Paulo states,Brazil, was adopted as 2015 Japan Fund for Global Environment grant project (second year). As a result, it will became that the spread of Jussara palm AF cultivation to the city around farmers and the establishment of the cultivation techniques of the Jussara palm AF are promoted.

VERSTA was remitted 200,000 yen as 2013 Jusara palm AF grant financial support to the counterpart organization that conducted Rio Preto village’s Jusara palm AF.
Grant from VERSTA was used for purchase cost between crop tree seedlings, fertilizers, electric lawn mower.

“The agroforestry by Jussara palm (Euterpe edulis) with Brazilian Fruits promoting enterprise for the small-scale farmers to conserve and restore the Atlantic forest in state of São Paulo, Federative Republic of Brazil” which NPO VERSTA was preparing support service as the Japan Fund for Global Environment support matter in 2012 of the Environmental Restoration and Conservation Agency of Japan (Environment Agency jurisdiction).
Thereby, the tropical-rain-forests preservation reproduction support enterprise in Brazil by VERSTA starts completely.
